Beautiful Fall weather! [misc]

With the ravages of winters coldest and most violent days ahead for this year, we are most honored and yet humbled by this beautiful weather we're havin. Brings to mind that we have an obligation while on earth to help others around us. Ole Jeep and I are fixin to get ready to do just that. We've located a buzz saw and he's on track of a combine engine. We hope to put the two together and be able to cut firewood for those less fortunate than we are. This winter especially, we may be brought to our knees with high heating costs and other adverse happenings too. We have older people, some crippled and some not, who just cannot afford to pay for gas/oil to heat their homes with. Some cannot afford to buy firewood either. Of course, we're not dummies either-some have plenty of money to do that and will still want "freebies" which we wont' oblige them with. Our firewood will be free to those who really need it. I might suggest that if you're able and so led to do the same in your neck of the woods, then have at it! You'll be appreciated by those poor, less fortunate people. Enjoyed last evening attending a concert by the Southern Gospel group "The McKameys" at an area school. For all those who love this type of music, I'd suggest you attend one of their high energy concerts. Check out their website at mckameys.com for more info about their schedule etc. Lil dumplin and I will probably take the day off and go lookin at the leaves. The beauty of Almighty God is around us everywhere, everyday but sometimes, seems more pronounced at this time of the year than others. Take a little time for yourselves and go have a "look see" and just let things lay for a couple days or so. You'll be Blessed for takin the time to enjoy. A fine way to refresh and renew yourselves from the problems of everyday livin. Matt. 24:44

My calendula didn't get planted until late, so it was JUST starting to flower well when the first bad frost hit. I picked four bundles of flowers and hung them to dry for use in ointments, but wished I had more. But the plants survived, and are flowering again, with the warmer weather. I got three more bundles today, for which I am very happy!!!! Hubby enjoys Southern Gospel; he collects videos and CDs of the Gaither homecomming recordings, esp., and he LOVES to hear Vestal Goodman!

Hoot, my front yard is bright orange! It's "snowing" orange every day and it's breathtaking. We have a huge Maple right outside the house, and 3 large Oaks too. The Maples have colored first. We can see every Maple for miles standing up here on the hill!! They are all orange. Isn't it amazing how they change at the same time, and the color is soooo orange.

It's usually so quiet up here, but now I hear this 'swoosh, swoosh, swoosh' outside and I walk to the door to see what it is, and right before I get there, I realize it is the dogs running in the deep leaves!! I have done this several times allready! We get so tuned to every sound around us, it's funny how our minds know what is not usually there. Every time I walk out on the porch the color of the grass 'catches' me by suprise! We are getting a beautiful fall this year. I don't want to rake up the leaves yet, I always enjoy them for as long as I can! I love to take pictures and put verses on them of God's beautiful creation, it's truly magnificent.

Today will be warmer & sunnier, the sky bluer and the leaves more beautiful than yesterday!!! And I thought yesterday was perfect! This is my favorite time of year, next to spring-when everything is just getting started. But this time of year means we can slow down a little and enjoy more that which God has given us. Harvesting is done or almost done, I for one am still canning, sure, the weeds need to be pulled out to get the garden ready for next spring, but not today, today we will pile the leaves for the granddaughters to play in. Take time today to REALLY look around for those things for which we are (or should) be grateful for. hoot, love ya, you & lil dumplin have a wonderful day. :)

In SE Indiana, the weather has been much warmer than normal. That saves on the firewood. The leaves are prettier this year than they have been in the past few. 4 of my grandkids are visiting for a few days. They're raking up leaves to play in and pulling onions for me. It's so nice outside and they're chasing a chicken or two. This Sunday we're doing our Christmas thing. We're going on a hayride, out to eat and to the apple orchard. Fall is a wonderful time. Heaven is supposed to hold wonders we can't even think of, kind hard to comprehend when you see the beauty of the seasons.
