Amber,From the Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore:
Since 1949, in the evening of each anniversary of Edgar Allan PoeBs birth on January 19th, a lone and mysterious figure has entered the Westminster Burial Grounds to leave, as a tribute, a partial bottle of cognac and three roses. Presumably, the three roses are representative of those buried beneath the monument dedicated in November of 1875. Of course, Edgar Allan Poe, his wife Virginia Eliza Clemm Poe and his wifeBs mother, Maria Poe Clemm. The significance of the cognac is not known. Respectfully, no attempt is made to stop or encumber his visits. The identity of the visitor is unknown and is referred to as the Poe Toaster.
