Plane Wreckage Found in Desert Near Nevada; Two Dead The Associated Press

BAKER, Calif. (AP) - The wreckage of a small plane and the bodies of its two passengers were found in the Mojave Desert a day after it disappeared. The plane crashed Monday about a mile and a half from the Nevada line, said Larri Dillard of the Federal Aviation Administration.

The plane, a Mooney 2J, was headed from Mesquite, Nev., to Fallbrook when it went down about 2:30 p.m. in the desert some 150 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

The identities and ages of the two victims were not immediately known, but a recovery team planned to arrive at the site Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating.
