Little Bit's Bits

I've been wanting to give a few little things that make my life easier. Maybe some of them will help you also.

1) For you ladies who have oily hair. This is a real problem for some. If for some reason you have to postpone a shower, using a little cornstarch baby powder will take the oil out of you bangs. This is really helpful when camping or any other time when a shower isn't available. Don't put it directly on your hair. Put some in your palm and apply it by rubbing it into the strands. Make sure you brush it well afterwards.

2) Goldenseal will make a real nice bandage on small scrapes and will fight infection at the same time. This is absolutely wonderful for children who are playing outside after have a fall. It doesn't sting and will keep dirt out of the cut. Simply put a few drops of water in a half a tsp of goldenseal root powder. It will be liquid at first, but as the root rehydrates will make a nice paste. Apply this to the cut and allow to dry. Once it is dry it will stick like glue and will come off at every bath. This is better for cuts on everywhere but the hands. On hands it is still a wonderful antibiotic, but it is best to use it with a bandaid as hands get wet more than any other part of the body.

3)Herbal bath teas are wonderful for the soul and skin. My favorite is Lavendar, comfrey, and Rosemary. Heat water on the stove and steep the tea in the water by putting it into a tied cloth bag. Poor this tea into your bath. This will make your skin soft. Allergy prone individuals should be cautious using anything on their skin.

4)Garlic stops an oncoming virus for me in it's tracks nearly every time. I take 3 concentrated garlic tablets 3 times a day when I have an oncoming cold.

5)Hands will be softened by putting oil on your hands with sugar and scrubbing. Then apply several drops of dishwashing liquid. Rub this in well and then rinse. Apply you favorite lotion while your hands are still wet. Dry with a soft towel. This makes your sking feel like velvet.

6) Absolutely the best hair conditioner is Hair Repair by St.Ives. You can feel the difference in one treatment.

7) The Best Hair spray is called "Freeze It". It is in a bright yellow can. This stuff will hold anything.

Have you found any uses for the saltpeter that is so commonly found in your part of the country?
