woodpecker

Help,

Need some suggestions on how to deter a woodpecker (or three) from drilling into my cedar siding on my house. He's got areas on the front all ready pecked out - looks bad. I yell at him and he just ignores me.

I'd heard of fake owls but I'd have to put them all over the house and I was told by a couple people that that wont work.

thanks in advance for any ideas.

We used bottle rockets to run some off from here. Have also heard of using loud music in 10 minute intervals.

Permanently anchor a hawk-shaped kite so that it flies overhead on windy days, or helium balloon it for a more day to day thing. Pretty soon the stress alone will make Woody split for calmer surroundings.

Woddpeckers drill for bugs. So there must be bugs there somewhere. Like termites or carpenter ants or ?... You may find you'll need to thank them for alerting you to a problem.

Snoozy, they could be trying to open up a place to roost as well. If you hang bird netting over the side of the house that may work too
