Richard:Interesting that you should pose this question. I have an FT-1 and was confronting a similar problem. I was running into the problem that I wanted to use the bulb setting for night time photography but the camera's meter would only go down to a 2 second shutter speed.
I recently picked up a Gossen Lunasix from eBay for a very good deal. The older version Lunasix is quite similar to the older version Luna Pro (at least that's what I read) and handles both incidental and reflective light. When available, they go for price range you mention or lower. The one I picked up is in great shape, is extremely easy to use. In addition, it lists shutter speed times up to 8 hrs (far more than I need). A manual for the Lunasix 3 (basically the same as the original Lunasix with the addition of available attachments) can be found at the following link.

So far, I have been very happy with the meter. The fact that I was able to find a manual for the meter online was a bonus.
Hope this info helps.
