GNST 300 Credit Travel Study

The initial information meeting re the proposed Credit Travel Study section of GNST 300 will be held on November 16, 6-7 p.m. in PFA 120.

For those of you who don't know this, I have put forward a proposal to take a group of no more than 20 (preferably 16) students to Greece and Italy next Spring, studying GNST 300 texts along the way. The course will require some advance classes--3 Saturdays in fact, with us leaving on May 12 and returning on June 2. I've kept the time away as short as possible so that full-time working students might be able to take advantage of something that is often only available to the regular, younger students. I have taken the advice of many of you to heart and will be sure that we cover at the very least Ancient Greece and Rome before we leave. That way the presentations students do can be done on site--imagine doing a presentation on Sophocles while visiting Delphi, or one on Roman Destiny while visiting Pompeii!!

I'm going to work with Credit Travel Study to put together a mini handout for distribution in all Weekend U classes and posters for tacking up across campus. With that in mind, I'm wondering if any of you who are world travellers may happen to have photos of any sites in Greece and Italy, photos that you would be willing to share as part of the advertising for this endeavour. I can arrange to have "(photo by ___)" printed near any photos that we use.

The best advertising for this course is going to be word of mouth from students who are familiar with GNST 300, so you are an invaluable asset to this process. Talk it up among your friends and classmates, please. Your help is very much appreciated.

Feel free to contact me off-list if you have any questions.
