Lift Him Up All Ye People

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

There is a praise song with the following lyrics: Lift Him up, lift Him up, lift the Name of Jesus Higher Lift Him up, all ye people lift Him up He said 'If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me' Lift Him up. All ye people lift Him up.

I am looking for the rest of the lyrics. Can a pastor get a little help?

You got it! That's basically the song. The second verse is simply "Praise the Lord..."

Pastor Ray,

I know I'm not "trippin'" but my experience with this song is a little different. My old church/choir would sing it as follows: Lift Him Up!!, Lift Him Up!! Lift up the Name of Jesus, Jesus!! C'mon and Lift Him Up!! Higher, Lift Him Up, Higher, Lift Him Up. Jerryl/Jerome, is this the same song? I need a tamborine for the right key :-)

Bill, yours is a different song. The one you are "singing" is often done by male choruses (at last at St. Paul, Cambridge and Clear Lake :-)). The one Pastor Ray is referring to is a much slower song, sung if I remember correctly, at St. Paul by VWV. It starts softly, then builds to a great crescendo, then backs down to a whisper.

Now if only I could post the MIDI files here... :-)

Why not send the midi file to the email address ?

I BELIEVE THIS IS THE SONG YOUR LOOKING FOR. GOD BLESS, CHERYL VERSE 1

Lift Him up, lift Him up,

Lift the name of Jesus higher.

Lift Him up, raise His banner to the sky.

He said, "If I be lifted up,

I will draw all men unto me."

Lift Him up, all ye people, lift Him up.

VERSE 2

Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord,

Praise His righteousness forever.

Praise the Lord, lift your voices to the sky.

He said if we won't praise His name

Then the rocks and stones will cry out.

Praise the Lord all ye people, Praise the Lord.

VERSE 3

Show His love, Show His love,

Show His love to everybody.

Show His love let your candle always shine.

He said that by the love we show

They will know we're His disciples.

Show His love all ye people, Show His love.

TAG

He said, "If I be lifted up,

I will draw all men unto me."

Lift Him up all ye people, lift Him up.

Cheryl, thanks for sharing. I was not familiar with the third verse at all, and I see there are more words to the first two than we used to sing at St. Paul, Cambridge.

Happy to be enriched,
