Filter before Enlarging lens

Hi,

I want to place a Cokin Diffusion filter before my enlarging lens - a Schneider Componon-S 50mm. Since I purchased this lens second hand, I have no information what filter thread can be used to attach the Cokin Filter holder before the lens. Thanx, Marc.

I doubt you'll find an adapter, the thread's pretty small, 32mm or so I'd guess, enlarger lenses were never meant to take accessories. Why not just hold the filter under the lens with your fingers, or jury rig something with an elastic band?
Also, I hope you realise that diffusion in enlarging negatives gives the opposite effect to using it on the camera. It spreads the shadows, not the highlights, and the effect is gloomy, rather than light and airy.

I bent up a coat hanger to provide a platform for filters under the lens. Cheap and effective.

I've just checked, it's a 43mm x 0.75 thread, larger than it looks, but still small enough that you'll have trouble finding an adapter.

Get a step-up ring.

I used two wood clothespins(I have thousands), had to cut one down a bit though, used zip-ties to secure (where's my gaffers tape!!) and after fashioning them in an L shape, SHHAZZZAAAM!! instant filter holder!!
