You could refurbish every school in America. Or, Buy ONE B2 bomber to attack, uh, who? Or, Build 2 more U.S.S. Coles that terrorists can use for target practice. Or, Offer it to Manny Ramirez to stay with the Cleveland Indians. (He only wants a mere 200 million.)

I'd probably spend most of it on booze and women and then I'd just waste the rest of it.

Houses of ill repute are fine as long as they pay taxes to , legalize it and tax them !

1st of all I wouldn't tell anybody I had it!!!!! Peoples come out of the woodwork I hear. I'd give away 1.5 million and let the rest draw interest, live off of it, might buy a suburban, put some in trust for the kids and grandkids for college. To much money causes problems, no diamonds, brick mansions, trips to tahiti, maybe a trip to Canada or Alaska.

I would buy a farm and start a handicaped riding and driving [ ponys ] program. I would move my husbands parents and my mom into there own houses on the farm [ my mom makes the best home fries in the world]that way my son could grow up with them near and I could take care of them as they age.I would also have a few friends move on to the property and build them houses to.Then I would set up a charity to send money anonomously to people down on there luck. Could you imagine the look on some one who is having troubles face to find a envolope with nothing but cash in it.

I meant I would give away 1.5 billion not million.

-- Carol in Tx (cwaldrop@peoplescom.net), November 09, 2000.

Kathy, I have never heard anyone describe my own dream before. You got it down exactly, right down to the 'secret angel' part! Did you see that movie 'Palamino'? But I added a sawmill to mine, so we can make real wood furniture and dump loads of firewood in peoples yards at night so they don't know where it came from!

The saddest part is that while so much was spent on the elections, over half of that amount was contributed by corporations. Goes to show America is for sale. It is so bad now that the same corporations were donating to both campaigns, so they'll have the "power" with whoever gets in office. - Julia

Hmmmm......I'd buy a small island and call it Refugio del Libertad and buy massive amounts of computers and get the best hackers in the world to concentrate on taking down all of the IMF and World Banking systems and liberate everyone from slavery to the love of money whether they liked it or not. Good thing I don't have two billion dollars, huh?LOL

-- Doreen (animalwaitress@excite.com), November 09, 2000.

Don't have time to answer everything I'd do. Just wanted to type out two billion so that you can see how big that is. I don't think I could easily spend it, though I spose I could find enough charities to give it away to. Hmmmmmm, now there's an idea. Every dollar spent on campaigns, another dollar goes to charity . . . .

Anyway, just look at this number:

2,000,000,000 = two thousand million = two million thousand dollar bills! EEK!

-- Joy Froelich (dragnfly@chorus.net), November 09, 2000.

2 Billion! First, buy property --about 40 acres to start. Second- build a Christian School -free to those who couldn't afford tuition. Third-Build another school for little guys and gals with the terrible disabiltiy of Autism and other learning disability diseases. Fourth-- a home for unwed mothers-to-be that wanted to keep their baby or put it up for adoption. A Christ based Church that supported missions worldwide. Fifth-a ministry of helps to feed the needy, old and those who really needed it. I'm sure with a little more time I could come up with other ways to help people. I think I would be greedy and keep about 50,000 to pay for my house, dr bills etc. Invest the left overs and use the interest to give away through these programs. Matt. 24:44

Let's see, 1st off I'd hire me an accountant and a decent lawyer to ward off the tax man and other undesirables. Then I'd get down to business.

(1) I would buy a 1000 acres, so I could have some privacy and be a gentleman farmer (grin!). Plus this ties into # 3

(2) Then I'd set up trust funds for myself and the mrs., grand parents, parents, brothers and sisters, kids, and neices and nephews.

And then the fun.

(3) Start up a non profit organization, and establish several community agencies that would target those people and needs that fall through the cracks. Food bank and soup kitchens, rental assistance, medical, dental and vision clinics, child care, etc. etc. Basically help those that need help meeting their basic needs for whatever reason. The only thing I would ask in return is that once the people I helped are able to, they assist me in assisting others. Take their turn in the soup kitchen. Help me harvest the fresh fruit and veggies. Clean up road side litter. Sit and read with the elderly who are homebound or live in a nursing home. Tutor / mentor students. Etc.

That's what I would do.

I was surprised on how big most of your hearts were. It sure is nice talking to decent people! Doreen isn't America a " refuge a Freedom". ? Thanks.

-- Richard V. Miller (richard.miller@1st.net), November 10, 2000.

I am impressed with their big hearts, too! That's why I tried to break it up a bit. Because it still gives too much credence to the monied elite.

Richard, I don't think America exists....It's the United States of America, North America, South America, Central America. I don't think the United States of America is the bastion of freedom the media would have us believe. It's Liberty I am after....freedom follows it. Semantics, really, but there is a reason for the two different words.

At any rate, this is Fantasy, and we are still allowed those, right?

A farmer would say "I would keep on farming until it's all gone"

-- John Hill (john@cnd.co.nz), November 15, 2000.

Alot would go to the Voice of the Martyrs ministry to help my brothers and sisters who are paying a high price for their faith in countries such as Sudan, China,Vietnam, etc. I would take a nice piece of it and buy a nice spread for family, friends to come live at (compound?!:) ) Most of it,unfortunately, would go to Uncle Sam, but what was left would definitely be used to glorify the Lord. And we don't have to wait for $2b to seek these desires of our hearts!!!Because if we had to we would never accomplish anything. Mother Teresa once said, "We can do no great things; only small things with great love". AMEN!!!

-- Beth Weber (talmidim88@hotmail.com), November 15, 2000.

I'd buy as much threatened wildlife habitat as I possibly could.

-- debra in ks (solid-dkn@msn.com), November 17, 2000.

P.S. When I was a kid I told people when I grew up I was going to buy Africa and save all the animals. Haven't changed much I guess!

-- debra in ks (solid-dkn@msn.com), November 17, 2000.

Ever wonder about that 'billion' thing...

It takes a little less than 34.5 years for a billion seconds to pass...

Just trying to add a little perspective...
