LEICESTER MEET UP - THE DEFINITIVE THREAD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

OK, seems like a few pubs have been getting mentione din different threads so to try and get something sorted.

The ones mentioned so far seem to be: SBA mentioned a pub in a small shopping centre near to the ground that was supposed to be quite good, they seems to be the same one that TC2000 is advocating in his thread where he talks about "The two pubs are 'Local Hero' (perhaps they will play our song!!) and also 'The Counting House' just off Aylestone Rd, near to the away fans side of the ground.

Others including Dougal and Screacher have mentioned The Victory, which sounds as though it is pretty close to these twoi, and somewhere near the rugby ground.

Finally Jay, Kats and her mates have picked up on The Physio & Firkin which is also in Aylestone Road.

So which is it to be?

TC2000 reckons, on recentl information apparently, that the two in the small shopping centre are away fans friendly, and if SBA reckons they are OK, then thats alright by me, so I would suggest The Local Hero to start and take it from there.

Andy and me are aiming to be there for about 12.30-12.45 depending on the traffic on the M1. Who else?

Just in case it all falls apart, send your mobile phone numbers to my E Mail address jestab73@hotmail.com - I'll send mine back and then if all else fails we can ring each other in whatever pub and sort it out there.

THAT GOES FOR YOU AS WELL GARCIE

Quite frankly my dear, I couldn't give a damn. I'll be in the bowels of a development lab in Minnesota, sheltering from the wind, snow and other natural hazzards (Dougal excepted). But I'd be ever so grateful if some bugga would keep me informed on a match thread as to what's gannin on. You see, it's so bliddy cold here (there's even a refuge for brass monkeys, Peyter Heed excepted) that I have to shelter ahint me firewwaal. Enjoy yersels at Fliberty Gibbert St. Give my regards to Mungo - ye cannit miss him in a little place like that. Oh, homesickness. I wish I was there.

The VICTORY

is the real away pub if it's a pre match atmos (and crush) you're after. It's at 21 Aylestone Road right by Leicester rugby club halfway between the railway station and Filbert St (about half a mile). For the polluters it's A50 into the city centre, A47, Oxford Street then A426 Aylestone Rd.

Ken I was in the Firkin on Sat. I have been off line for a week or so now so had no idea where you would be. I saw Jay and Kats in the Firkin, and looking back I must of seen you! Will you be going to the Villa game?

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2000

I was with Jay and Kats in the Physio and Firkin.....as well as Andy (Scratchy) from here and the Daily Toon, as well as Homer and Wonkey (plus girlfriend) from the Strawberry.....pity you didn't come across if you recognised the girls.

I'm not sure about Villa yet. Hopeful, but will have to wait and see what the ticket situation is.

I even E-Mailed you my mobile number the other night so you could ring me if you were there.

One of these days GaRCie....one of these days.....

I will be at the Villa game, (aslong as I don't have to work), then my next away game will be Chelsea at the end of Jan. Who let the the Mags oot???

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2000

You not going to Brum for the Worthy then......I 'may' be there, I don't know yet......trying to work out if I want to spend the money on a ticket, drive up there after work and be knoackered the next day, or go down the pub and watch it in Hillingdon.....decisions decisions....

-- Anonymous, November 13, 2000

Nah, I can't make the Brum game, I'm having to work to make my hours up for the time off I've had over the last couple of weeks. It's a shame really because thats a ground I have never been to. I can't even make it to the game this week-end. I'm just reading through the Board and I like you little poem about the robin, very funny.
