Aeon Flux: The Dossier

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Aeon Flux : One Thread

If antone out there can answer this question please do so because I cannot for the life of me find this book.I have an ad dating back to march of 1995.In the ad it has Aeon Flux standing and it reads Aeon Flux: The Dossier. The price is $19.95 and its a mail order ad for an Aeon flux book. Now here is the question. Is this a different book than the Herodotus file or is this the same book because if it is then why does the ad date back to March 1995 when the book had not come out till late 1995?(I should know I got one for Christmas)And on the back of the first video tape it says "Examine the Dossier.Check out the file (Herodotus).Discover the truth".

Eric Canete did the illustrations for much of the Herodotus file, which was probably the dossier in question. He informed us on this forum at one time that the production of the book was a difficult deadline to meet. My guess is they were slated to come out with the book earlier and were not able to meet deadline, so the release of the book was delayed, although the advertisement was not. There is a column on this forum which discusses the problems of late production of the book, the last part, which he referred to as the comic book, was illustrated by a different artist. Here the art is not up to the quality of the rest of the book, as you will attest to I'm sure, Eric was trying to keep up with the standards of the show and this is what delayed the release.

Personally I think that it was stupid of them (the magazine ad) to have an order form for a book that would not have been released for another 5 months. I think that I should have ordered it anyway just to see if I would have gotten it in the mail and if it did turn out to be the Herodotus File then hey I would have had it months before its release date.

You would have had it before the artist was done with the original?

In the world of Aeon Flux, such temporal paradox is possible.

Haha, and this is true to Flux lore, written by a savant, I'm sure.

I just bought one off the ebay, don't ask me why, i already have one, signed by Eric Canete, too, but it was not much, no one else bid on it, and it was the original type with the cover that folds over and makes a little 'brief' kind of. What a cool idea that was.

Wow! Reading about Lost Highway I suddenly realized why I wanted to own this book, it's about possession. To possess the world of Berognica/Monica.

Ack! You got a signed copy of the original book barb! grr i'm jealous. i haven't seen the "brief case" look yet. Is e-bay the only way to get the original book? heh barb don't you already have a "herodotus files" book already signed by Eric?

-- Lady Morgan (AeonFluxFan1@aol.com), November 22, 2000.

Well, no. I'm sure you can pick up a copy of the brief case styled Herodotus file if you,... hmm, actually, I think they probably are getting somewhat scarce nowadays. Maybe the Monica library? Bregna once had one misshelved with some 30 year old reports on crop parasites, but then that one seems to have been re-misshelved in MTV's art department, and you know how hopeless lost that is.

Oh, right. I do have one signed by Eric Canete, yes, (and I wish you could see the beautiful flowing penned hand he has, and the slant and all). That is my personal treasure, unfortunately I didn't send him the brief case one, but I will have this second brief case one coming in the mail, hmm, what will I do with another one?...

Couldn't you just kill for that original Herodotus art collecting dust in the art department of MTV's vaults? Maybe the ghost of Christmas past will visit their corporate head and the original creative soul of MTV will be renewed:).. but hey wait:( it's only Thanksgiving, and we're stuck with the turkeys yet.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), November 22, 2000.

But take heart Lady Morgan, maybe Christmas will come for you early this year...

Oh gosh Barb you are such a tease! if i didn't like you so much i might have to come over there and give you a piece of my mind! haha jk. Flowing beautiful penmenship, is that how you put it? geez and the monican library? oh yeah that's great! hehe Well Happy Thanksgiving to you Barb and everyone else on the Forum! I'm afraid i have to visit with the family now!*cries* :O)

Hwy all... My cousin owns the Herodotus File..it has the folding cover and stuff...but I just love the story inside and all the extra dirt on Aeon ....and how she is the star of fetish magazines...and there is so many yummy goodies in this graphic novel...I think I may ask if I can buy it off her...since I am alway the one reading it...But I do have to admit that it was loosely put together and that explains the whole thing about it being made quickly...I really feel that the graphic novel sums up the whole thing and you have sort of a better understanding of the whole universe..it's a shame Chung never took the time to just to do a comic series based off these characters...anyway...if anyone wants more dirt on the book...I've got it! By the way...did everyone know that Aeon has this weird psychological problem? Okay by Gina
