U.S. military plane collides with Cessna in Florida
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) -- An F-16 military jet collided with a small plane Thursday and crashed in flames. At least two people were killed, while the military pilot parachuted to safety, authorities said.
Parts of the small plane, a Cessna, landed on a golf course. The wreckage of the military jet started a fire in the woods a few miles away.
The accident took place about 30 kilometres from MacDill Air Force Base.
At least two people were killed, said Larry Leinhauser, spokesman for the Manatee County Department of Public Safety. He said the military pilot was safe.
