S. Davies Warfield

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I am interested in historical documentation and biographical information concerning S. Davies Warfield, who was responsible for extending SAL and buiding many depots during Florida boom period of 1926. I am also interested in obtaining photos of depot which was reported to have been in Indiantown as well as old pictures or articles of the Seminole Inn. I have some old photos of the Seminole Inn which I can scan and e-mail. One is immediately available, others will be available later.

Dan, a good account of Warfield's life can be found in the 'Dictionary of American Biography', Volume XIX, page 455, published 1936 by Charles Scribner & Sons, New York. This multi-volume set can be found in the reference section of most large libraries or collegiate settings. At the article's conclusion are valuable reference citations that were used to prepare the bio, including Warfield's obit which appeared in the Baltimore Sun. Another Warfield bio appears in 'Who's Who in America, 1926-1927.' The Baltimore,MD Historical Society also maintains a file. Good luck!
