Friend of mine's Granddad was run over by a train on the Northside of Jacksonville FL circa 1860. Where can I look to attain more info? He thinks it was the SAL.

There was no Seaboard Air Line RR (SAL) in 1860. As a corporate entity, the SAL was not formed until 1900. Further, there was no railroad running north out of Jacksonville, Fla., in 1860. The Florida, Atlantic & Georgia RR ran directly west to Lake City and the Florida RR had a line from Fernandina, through Baldwin to Cedar Key, coming nowhere near north Jacksonsonville. You might be able to find out more by checking for a death certificate at the State Library in Tallahassee, or a search of newspapers of the that year in either the State Library or Central Library in Jacksonville. When someone was hit by a train, that usually made the newspapers, especially back then.
