Is Praktica the same mount as M42 (the same as Pentax K?)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Konica 35mm SLRs : One Thread

Praktica was before my photography time, so I really don't know anything about it, but I was wondering as to the Praktica mount. Is it the same as M42 mount ... and the same as a "screw mount" and Pentax K mount.. etc..?

Thanks,

Mike.

Praktica Mount

Mike,

The M42 (Praktica) mount was commonly used on early Pentaxes, Mamiya-Sekors and many others. The Pentax K mount is completely different, a bayonet. M42 to Konica AR adapters are available to use these lenses on your Konica if you so desire. No automation would exist, of course.

Praktica M42 Mount

Mike, Besides being a simple screw-mount, it was also used by Pentacon (makers of Praktica cameras) with electric contacts built-in to control the aperture. If memory serves me correctly, the Electric Praktica Lenses will not work on mechanical mounts.
