Ideas for mailing list

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grady Web Project : One Thread

First, this is just a super idea! As for substance: It would be great to get notices of things that are going on at school the day before--from plays, to PTSA---basically anything on the school calendar would have a tickler that would hit the day before the event. However, almost more important than substance is the sense of connectedness that regular shorty messages would convey.

For instance, at the beginning of the year when activities haven't geared up, send out the daily bell schedule, the list of teachers, class schedule (where is this?) (these can just be links to these sites). SOme of this can be repeated at the beginning of the second semester.

Or, if you have a goal of an informational notice once a week that goes out over the weekend so people see it Sunday when they're planning for the week or Monday, first thing.

Finally, your list and emailings will set the tone of communication, and soon other groups at school will use it.

THanks for your work!
