Anyone else still gutted about last weeks result?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I know we're trying to drag ourselves out of it and all that but I just can't....It's still gutting me everytime I get remotely close to thinking about it.....

I stupidly said I'd be happy to lose that match if we got a place in the champions league....I was SO WRONG to say that.....my season is ruined, the only slight chance of salvaging it is we fucking tonk them at the SOS and I mean REALLY tonk them.....

Still waking up in a cold sweat. Feels worse than the post-cup final blues. Deep down I think we all thought we were going to stuff 'em and that's why the pain's not receding. Bastards.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Exactly Gav, Stuffing them at the Shite Stadium would hurt them a great deal. We have to make sure we don't expect to win that one like the past three or we'll be pissed off again.

Hopefully Phillips will be at Leeds by then anyway. If results this weekend go in our favour it will be a damn sight easier to look at the table.

Chin still firmly planted on the floor - can't even think about it, and my confidence in the team is so low I'm beginning to get nervous about Sunday.
I suspect three good points off 'Pool would help me put it all behind me, but it's really hit me hard.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Still haven't watched the second half yet.

I reckon I could have two teeth pulled without anaesthetic and it still wouldn't hurt!

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

No - it disappoints no more than any other result after the passing of a few days. We put too much store in this one - a bit like the Scots playing the English.

It should be them that are more hooked on this fixture than us. They are altogether smaller than us. They are bound to win sometimes - so what? We have spent much longer in the Premier, and it was a long time since they beat us. They've now managed it twice, and one of those was in a water-polo fixture.

Forwards.

what ya crying in yer ale for?...it wasn't even a real derby.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

I'll say nowt more than it's not Sunday I'm worried about it's the potential Worthy upset that's giving me the shist.

As sure as eggs is eggs that game has UPSET written all over it.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

What, LR, for the same reason as the Real Madrid v Barca match isn't a derby?

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

That ain't a derby either Douggie. Madrid and Barcelone are feckin' miles apart...lots of them.

Your derby would be Newcastle v's Gateshead or something

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

However, not being a Mancunian, then the City v Mna United derby is obviously meaningless to you.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Correct...meaningless. That's why I made no attempt to get a brief for last weeks game....unlike paying 70 squid v's the Mickies. Why?

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Thanks a bunch Gav, do I need a thread of this type, as a real Manc would say *note LR, "Did I heckers like". Still gutted you ask,c`mon Gav, gissus a break, been caught, landed, gutted, filleted, battered and fried and served up since Saturday. 3 of the cat`s are still awol Dawg is sulking lack of exercise, and the wife could give you a list on request. Don`t mention the xxxxxxx

My first post on the subject of last Saturday's nightmare.

I got over it when they equalised. I knew what was on the cards and knew we were going to lose.

At 5pm on Saturday I got over it completely. Shit happens.

I was really upset about losing to Charlton.... and the Everton debacle took me a week to get over. Those games really made me sick. This one was just another unnecessary defeat.... 3 points lost.

I was more upset at the earlier defeats because I thought we may have made a challenge this season. I was wrong. Last Saturday was terrible for the obvious reasons but it just highlighted the fact that we are just an above average mid-table team. Nothing I didn't know already.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Come on Geordie - no-one with a moniker like yours could get over that result so quickly. Admit it man, you're hurting, really really hurting.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Yes, it really was, and still is, AWFUL. All we have is a bunch of tanner ball players. Worst of all, it's an indication that things are not going to get any better. A team that REPEATEDLY shows it does not know how to win games that it should and could. And, I was really encouraged by the Middlesboro game - mistake!!

DSS,
I hurt. I hurt terribly.
To be perfectly honest I just switched off. Pretended it never happened. Denial? Probably. We do what we have to do to get through bad times.

By looking at it as 3 points lost it's more palatable.

I look at the play off defeat as the start of our revival. If we'd got promoted that season we'd have been back down rapidly. As it was we went into freefall and KK returned to lead us to the best times of our supporting lives (for most of us).

Last year it was the Dutch twat's departure that made it all worthwhile.

This year? I've got nothing yet. Just a big hole in the pit of my stomach. There has to be a good reason for this latest lapse. Maybe it is the start of our push for the Champion's League. Maybe it is the Hackems relegation push.... I don't know... but I'm sure there is a reason...

Wish I hadn't started this thread now...sorry Buff et al.....it's kinda comforting to see that it's not just me being silly....or if I am then you lot are just as silly :))

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Geordie. Spot on mate - can't remember feeling so low (and God knows there's been plenty of prior opportunities!). It's not that long ago that we didn't give a toss about those inbreeds from queerside, we SHOULDN'T let them get to us, we're better than that, but boy has this result got under my skin. The key word at the minute, as Bobby has stated, is 'frustration', we've some terrific players at the Toon - I genuinely believe that - but for some reason it just isn't happening, I also believe that if anyone can pull it around then it's Young BR. I dunno, all part of being a Mag I suppose, we're up and down more often than a whore's drawers.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Would we react the way those twats have, if we had beaten them?

Would we like shit, we are a superior club, thats why THEY feel the need to rub it in. They have beat us twice this past year and you know what, THEY STILL LIVE IN OUR SHADOW!

They shout loud when beating their masters just like the Scots do to the English. Reacting in the same way as a Stevenage fan would of if they had of beat the institution NUFC. You wouldn't of heard the end of it.

All the mackems are doing is 'SHOUTING ABOUT THEIR GIANT KILLING,' dont worry, just get every thing in to context, get your clear perspective and put the bastards in their place.

You will be OK.

your agony uncle,

T.Dan.Smith

There must be something wrong with me. I got over it the next day. I was really misserable on saturday night, came straight home. I felt like ending it all, but instead I made a picture of hundreds of toon fans throwing themselves off the new bridge and it kind of cheered me up. The next day I didn't read the papers, didn't bother doing a match report, just switched off football all day. The same on Monday. Luckily, living in North Shields Makems are rarer than rocking horse shite, so I didn't get any of the obnoxious inbreds rubbing salt into the wound. Tuesday and everything is hunky dory, It was only one game, three points, so what, we are still only 4 points off 4th spot and still everything to play for in the league.

losing to the maKems is nothing compared with going out of the FA cup, especially in the semi or the final. That was hard to stomach as it was THE END. The worst thing in the world would be losing to the maKems in the FA cup final, if it hapened I think my little picture of Toon fans drowning their sorrows would become a reality. I would probably be at the head of the queue.

Howay you lot pull yersells together, a win against the scousers and a defeat for the maKems will rebalance the status quo. I don't want to see any more threads on this BBs about the Sunderland game, it's history f0rget it.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Bliddy easy for you to say Rik. As you say, North Shields isn't exaclty heaving with Makcems. You should try it here in Minnesota! ;-))

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Its not just that we were beaten - but we were in the lead and GAVE IT AWAY. That's the worst part.

-- Anonymous, November 24, 2000

Yes Gav - I`m still gutted. But I haven`t posted much about it because I`m feeling very much like a pale immitation of a football supporter - in fact, I`m in danger of winning the dubious honour of being `Armchair Supporter of the Year`. For the first time ever, I really felt that I wasn`t entitled to bleat on and on about how woeful we were, because I hadn`t been there taking it on the chin like the rest of you. You must have left St.Jameses feeling like you`d been kicked in the proverbials. (:o|

-- Anonymous, November 26, 2000

Not exactly Gal. I felt as though 'my proverbials' had been removed - without an anaesthetic - with a blunt tin opener! Stills smarts a bit too!

Clarky, when Yelli was a young teenager and the house was constantly full of sixteen/seventeen year old studs, whenever a new one arrived I used to give him the house rules. Very simple rules. Firstly, in such a testosterone rich atmosphere, no arguing in that really boring teenage male chestbeating sort of way. Secondly, the `c` word and the `t` word were not acceptable. (Pet hate of mine). Finally, I would quietly and casually let it be known, that the first person to lay a finger on my daughter would suffer the fate you have just described. I think I mentioned `the rusty lid off an old tin of cat food` as the instrument.

Funnily enough, despite the ground rules, we always had a houseful of kids. And everyone respected the rules, at least when I was around! (;o)

-- Anonymous, November 26, 2000

Yeah Gal - we don't allow anybody to mention Chelsea or Tottenham in wor hoose either ;-)

-- Anonymous, November 26, 2000

LOL (:o)
