Can you be drug tested if you have been in the industry for quite a few years and are just transferring?

Response to drug testing.

lol: I hope your question is academic. Various entitys including the US supreme court have held that drug testing as a condition of employment is legal. There are some things you should be aware of, there are various grades of tests. The cheaper ones that only measure your bodys chemistry can give false readings from any number of things, including the use of prescription drugs and some things unrelated to drug use. It is a good idea to let the Dr giving the tests know if you take any presciption or over the counter drugs. The more expensive tests are specific and can determine not only what drugs you may be on but the amount present in your body at the moment of the test. All drugs have some persistance and can range from 12 hours for alcohol to a month for cannibus (which is ususally not tested for). Hope this helps, Happy elevating. Fred

I just talked to a guy last night who was drug tested for a job on the "big Dig" in Boston, not elevator related, and he had to give them a piece of hair from which they did some kind of DNA test which he said will reveal drug use going back a year.
