The Law is not enough

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

No matter how the cases end up in Florida, what I have learned is the law cannot account for all possibilities. I have listened to the Leon County case all weekend; have gone through brief after brief, statute after statute, and at the end of the day, it will be left up to interpretation. This is what the judciciary does; interprets.

I am amazed at how important a single word can be when included in a law. It makes one think about how they use words, and how fragile, yet strong(yin-yang) our system of law is. There is much to learn.

The greatest chaos will produce the greatest benefits going forward. State Legislatures nationwide will look at their election laws and rewrite them. Amazing.

Profound ambience, yet synthetic perineum.

Syd:

This is why our Supreme Court (and all our other courts) do NOT give "advisory decisions" about the interpretation of bills pending before the legislatures. There is absolutely no substitute for a few real- world cases and controversies, with all of their attendant and wondrous surrounding fact situations, to put a law into the kind of perspective we the people NEED if we're to know what's legal and what isn't in practice.

Reality tends to approach our legal intentions with a warped sense of humor, no matter how hard we deliberate beforehand.

Perineum! I always called that the "taint".

The most important word in law in the past 10 years, is the word "IS." Interpret that word and come to your own conclusion.
