FT-1 shutter release malfunction

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Konica 35mm SLRs : One Thread

I have a well used FT-1 that only fires the shutter about every 5 to 10 sec. Doesn't matter if you're on single or continuous mode! At the same time this started, I noticed the LEDS stopped working in the finder. Shutter speeds are all OK and transport of film is OK. The metering does not appear to be functioning, it just stops to the max. every time. Should I sink it in my fish tank and move to one of my other FT-1's or is it savable?? Jim Martin

FT-1 Shutter release... poss. cause

Hi Jim,

I recall reading a common problem with the FT-1 was the Single/Continuous mode switch ground would get dirty or corroded. The usual symptom, I've heard, was that the continuous mode would stop working. One of my FT-1s probably has this problem. However, it doesn't have long delays like yours does, so I'm only guessing here, but I wouldn't sink the camera yet.. Better check with Greg Weber or Konica.

Konica still works on FT-1's -- Why not send it to them for a quote - it will only cost you $10.00 shipping back charge to find out....
