New Mike: Interim report

greenspun.com : LUSENET : To Hear Ourselves As Others Hear Us : One Thread

Have now tried the prototype of The Musician's Ear (TM) microphone on piano in three different rooms, two with wood floors, one concrete; flute, two sopranos, tenor, clarinet and guitar. The basic idea of a no-hassle, inexpensive mike with built-in preamp has been welcomed by all. In terms of sound quality, everyone who's tried it finds it acceptable or better, except for the tenor. We're working to improve the prototype. It's quite a subtle business.

When we've satisfied ourselves and the tenor, we'll make half a dozen to farm out to interested parties. This will be mid to late January, I expect. Watch this space.

Very interesting. Will it work in a room with wall-to-wall carpet?
