Pushing Tri-X in D-76

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

Some time ago, on someone's advice, I was developing Tri-X, rated at 800, using D-76 straight at 20C. I forget what time I was using. Does anybody know what a good time would be or where I can find such information? Second, can anybody recommend an Ilford developer to do what I'm looking for? I'm unused to working with Ilford but in Europe I'm finding Kodak materials difficult to find.

Simply use Ilford ID11, it is very close to D-76. Regarding D-76 times try www.digitaltruth.co.uk for massive development chart.

Kodak recommends that TriX at 800 be developed for the same time as shot at 400. I normally give it 30 seconds or so extra time in development.

> Ilford developer

Microphen or DD-X. They'll give you an extra 1/3 to 2/3 stop in real speed anyway, before pushing for more contrast.

If you check the technical data at www.kodak.com or your darkroom dataguide it will give you a full table.
