Gnome Universal Alpha II

I have just bought one of these enlargers. It seems quite/very old but has been well looked after. I would be grateful if anyone can tell me the history of this kit and how to reassemble the condenser and masking units to bring it back to life.

Hello Norman. I have a Gnome Rangefinder II Enlarger (V similar to yours). I have been using it for years and it still produces excellent results. These enlargers date back to the mid sixties, I have a winter 67 catalogue from Gnome. I think your model originally sold for about £26. There should be two condenser lenses. They fit into a metel holder with the flat side of each lense facing out. I am not quite sure I understand what you refer to as masking units. I have printing masks built into the negative carrier but no other masks.

Hope this helps !

Regards,

Dave
