replacement battery for Minox 35mm

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MINOX FAQ : One Thread

Hi all,

Just discovered this forum, i have a question on replacement battery for minox 35mm. My dad has a minox 35mm (not the later model about 10 years old) that uses a "VARTA V27 PX 5.6V mercury battery". As this battery is not that readily available anymore(if not phasing out of production). Does anyone know of any replacement battery? Please help!!!

This group had moved long time ago Minox_FAQ net site

Use two CR 1/3N, but you have to buy a new battery cover from www.minoxlab.com

I just bought a Minox 35 PL and bought a Varta PX27 battery with no problem. Several stores were out of stock but it didn't seem to be a big deal to find one. Apparently it is the same battery that is used in dog collars (to stop them from barking)......so you may be able to find one in a pet store. It was $14.99 Canadian (I'm in Toronto). Batteries Plus also carries them.
