Wood windmill tower

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I would like to find info on building a windmill tower of wood. I would appreciate it if someone could steer me toward books, articles, etc. that might help.

Ron, wood probably is no longer cost effective compared to steel. I expect you will have to look for building plans before WWII and probably before 1920. A site with lots and lots of homesteader plans is: http://www.ag.ndsu.nodak.edu/abeng/plans/index.htm Don't know if they have windmills or not.

The site JLS posted is loaded with great things to build, but I don't think there is anything on windmills. Will check my stuff and see if there is anything available and get back to you. Brother in law bought his wife a windmill with a wooden stand for their 25th wedding anniversary. Really neat, and reminds her of one her parents had when she was a child. Jan

I have also been looking for plans on building a wood windmill tower. If I find any, I will let you know. If you find any, please let me know. Thank you, Eddie
