*** Robbie BASTARD Keane ***

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Robbie Keane to face Newcastle on Boxing day..... I DON'T BELIEVE IT, but it's true. Leeds United get the player on loan till the end of the season. This could realy spoil my Xmas. The question remains WHY LEEDS? Something to do with Harry Kewell I reckon. Bobby Robson has been one of a host of managers tracking the gifted striker in recent weeks and has tried himself to pull off a loan deal. He will be devastated to see him lining up against us o Boxing day. If I were the manager, I'd tell Hughes and Caldwell to go out there and give him a good kicking , put him in the treatment room for the rest of the season. That'll teach the ITALIANS for snubbing NUFC.

I'd also tell Leeds they can Piss off if they expect us to buy Huckerby, Harte or Bridges.

This has got me really fired up, I hope it annoys BR and the players just as much, We could be in for a very heated match on Boxing Day.

Actually I hope we do get Bridges and/or Harte...soon...and they play blinders against Leeds on January 20.

Hehehe. All Rik's predictions have come to nowt. That's what's p1551ng you off, innit? You don't care aboot RK - only that you've been promoting his arrival for weeks. Hehehe.

Actually, piss-take over. Yes, it would have been good to get him, but I suspect he sees a brighter future for himself at Leeds (O'Deery connection an' all dat stuff loik) that at NUFC. We also don't know what discussions were had with NUFC when he left Wolves and/or Cov. Mebbes we just pissed him off a tad??

a symptom of how far we've fallen? leeds get the man, we contemplate signing their rejects.

somebody on here even suggested signing des walker, now thats a depressing thought, why not des o' connor?

Wish I'd lost my bet Rik

Yep, georgie - it's almost as depressing as having to play at Highbury with two kids at CB, and getting tanked 5-0.

clarky, was it you that suggested signing des walker, naturally i had no idea :) seriously though... aw forget it.

It's enough to turn you to drink, eh George? Looking forward to the Festive season? Good excuse for a couple of beers.

I was hoping that he would come to Newcastle Screacher, We all knew that BR was after him . We need him more than they do, We would use him more than they do. His arrival at Leeds has got me thouroughly depressed, what the hell has he gone there for?

I don't think he will do that well at leeds, i hope not anyway. Is kewel injured? It may just be a case of leeds getting so as to make sure no one else does. Man U do this all the time. Why do leeds need 5 strikers? Keane didn't do much for milan, I saw him against parma the other week and he looked lost. Still I would love'd to have him on our side. We should get bridges or huckerby.

Rik, I know Keane was a favoutite of yours and it would perhaps have been good to see him in a B&W shirt. However, when it was first mentioned, I too wondered why he doesn't fit in at Inter. Was he just a 2 season wonder? Well, I guess we'll find out very soon. Certainly, I think Strac and Co did a good bit of biz. £7M profit in one season. I woudn't have splashed out £12-13M for him - but I would have taken him on loan.

screacher, as you know i don't drink these days, not even the the prospect of des walker can change that.

rik's unrequited love for robbie keane is worthy of a bout boozing. almost as tragic as your average 19th century novel.

'What the hell has he gone there for'? - Maybe cos Leeds are an exciting up and coming team playing in the Champs League, with a shot at the title next year. If you were in his shoes - and neutral - where would you go?

Problem with that Dan is that he won't be allowed to play for Leeds in the Champions League this season.

He apparently came on for Inter in one of their matches earlier in the competition, so is cup-tied.

He couldn't play for them in that comp until next season, and the loan deal is only until the end of the seaosn with first option for a permanant move.......

Leeds are not in that good a position this season, and primarily we are in the same domestic position as Leeds (EPL and FA Cup) so it again begs the question Why Leeds?

I presume that Inter will now have first option on Kewell or Dacourt, should Leeds decide to sell them. How that fits in with the transfer decision is a different matter.
