What is the true meaning of Christmas?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

On monday Dec. 25th we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our lord and saviour, candlelight services will be held to symbolize Christ bringing light to a world filled with darkness. I hope we will give the gift of love and witness to those who do not know Christ or who do not have a church home. Often jokes are made about those who come only at Christmas, but they too should be welcomed with love and follow up with a phone call to invite them balk. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of our salvation. I encourage all who read this board to make evangelism a priority in your life. Give love and they will come. I received a letter today in the mail and I want to share it with you. It is from two young people I met at a gas station who live 200 miles away. They do not belong to a church. I went over to say hello, and to tell them I loved them, and happy holiday. I had never met them before. the letter is as follows, "Dear Rev. Denise Rogers, Robert and I had the pleasure of meeting you at the gas station last night. We'd just got engaged, and would like to join your congregation for one of your services. We live in Helena but pass through Bozeman quite often and would love to vist with you in the future." ( I changed the names) Show the love of Christ, through every hello, smile, and encounter you have. They will know we are christians by out love! Merry Christmas everyone, I love you all so very much, for you are my family!!

God has indeed came into the world as Jesus Christ to save his people from their sins. He is called Immanuel (God with us) because he will never leave us or forsake us. Praise the Lord Pastor Paris

While theologians endlessly debate whether the Christ-child was born on Dec 25, the gynecological possibilities of a "virgin" birth or the true identity of the Magi, one thing is certain the most remarkable person in history was born, Jesus. Go Tell It On The Mountain, over the hills and everywhere. Go Tell It On The Mountain that Jesus is Born!!! QED
