Can an FD lens fit an Elan IIe

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread

I was recently given a 500mm f/8 lens but I have an Elan IIe, is there an adapter or any way for the FD lens to mount to my Elan?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-David

Yes there is an adapter, or at least there was. It only works with those lenses which have a recessed rear element, since the adapter has a protruding front element.

It also works as a 1.2 ro 1.3x converter, which means it will reduce the light by about 1/2 - 2/3 of a stop. It will be VERY hard to focus.

If this is the fixed aperture mirror lens, no big deal, but if it is variable aperture like normal lenses, it will only work on your camera in stopped down manual mode. There is no way for the all electronic EOS to activate a manual aperture.
