Out of print ER book

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

I want to buy the book, "The New ER Files: The Unauthorized Companion" by John Binns. It is out of print. I have searched all over the internet for it. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Your best bet is to try contacting the publisher, Trafalgar Square Books, and asking them if they can either do a direct order (their Web site isn't clear on the subject) or recommend a retailer local to you, or provide your favorite bookstore with instructions on how to order a copy for you. The book, incidentally, is in their catalog right now, so presumably it's not as out of print as spamazon claims it is..

I also find it listed at http://www.alibris.com , which is a great book search site. The easiest way to locate it there is by searching on John Binns.

You can get it on amazon.co.uk. I got it from there.

I got it from Barnes and Noble. They have a limited supply left.

How good is the book in your opinion? I´m asking because it would be awful to go through all that work and end up with a book which information can be found anywhere else and the same old photos you find in every ER site.

The Book in question does not have very many pics in it. Just a few and they are small and in black and white. Mainly its a reference guide to the first 4 series (there were 2 versions of it - the first had Anthony Edwards as main photo on front - which covered Seasons 1- 3, and the second edition was the same book, but a different photo on it mainly of George Clooney and the rest of the guys behind him, the only difference being it covered Season 4 too with a short synopsis of Season 5). I found the book to be invaluable when I was a rookie to Er and now a long time later, still go back to the book when wanting to know more about episodes as it gives a full analysis and breakdown in detail of all the episodes in Seasons 1 through 4. Worth buying for the info, not for photos though. I would love to get hold of a book with pictures and stuff in - but cant find one anywhere (any ideas???). Hope this helps you. I have seen this book on the shelf still in my local Book Store - cant believe that its gone out of print already (was re-issued in 1999) - thats a real shame. T-J xxx

Tara-Jane: I bought a GREAT ER book that is full of large color photos. It is called "Behind the Scenes at ER" by Janine Pourroy. Pourroy writes about everything from the writing and research to the actors, filming and costume. I had a hard time finding it though because it is out of print. I would suggest searching online at out of print book search engines.

Hi thanks for answering my query - however, I already have that book!! and yeah - its really good. I would love to get a copy of The Official Er Companion but again its out of print. Not fair!!! I even bought Bedside Manners (bio on George Clooney) because that has alot of Er photos in too - pretty interesting read !!!
