Anybody out there use breadmachines? Any recommendations as to good ones? Bad ones? Any help would be appreciated.

I have had two bread machines. My current one, I just love. It is Chefs Mark brand. The only thing that I don't like is that it browns the bread more then I like, so I take the bread out a bit early. Otherwise, I wouldn't trade it for any other. The one that I had before this one, I would never recommend to anyone. It was a Pillsbury brand. It was loud, VERY loud. It cooked nicely, but it was so loud you couldn't hear the tv over it when it was in the other room. Plus, you had to have it completely open,as in away from everything, or you would get an error message telling you it had over heated. Often it would turn itself off, saying it had over heated. I would open it up and it would not feel too hot to me. If I ever tried to put it next to,say the toaster, it would give that error. Finally, I moved it onto the top of the dishwasher with nothing else around it. If I had the ceiling fan going, then I would not get that error and could use it. So..I didn't keep that one long, and got my Chefs Mark, which I love. Good luck!

I bought my Oster at Costco. I think it was about $60. Works great. I used it several times each week for about two years, then got lazy. But I have no complaints at all with the machine.

I have a WestBend I've had for several years. I didn't use it much until recently because the cookbook that came with it required exact measurements, and I'm not an exact kind of person. The bread would always fall. Recently I picked up a copy of THE BREAD MACHINE COOKBOOK by Donna Rathmell German(got it for 50 cents at a garage sale) I've found some recipes in it I like that work every time, using regular flour(and I can measure my way). Now we're enjoying fresh bread often because it's so easy.

Cristina, I have a West Bend machine purchased at wally world about a year ago. It works great but I don't like the recipes it came with.It does have 3 seperate crust colors you can set, also dough onkly so you can take it out and bake in the oven if You want. I really like it.My favorite bread recipe I got from the internet.Comes out perfect every time.3 cups flour (bread flour or regular all purpose with a teaspoon of vital gluten added) 1/4 cup canola or olive oil,1/4 cup white sugar,1/2 teaspoon salt,1 teaspoon yeast,1 cup warm water.put into machine and turn it on,when it has risen once turn it off and turn it back on so that it starts over from the begining.this lets it rise 3 times and makes a wonderful light loaf. hope this helps.

I have a regal kitchen pro. It is a good machine. The only complaint I have is that it makes very crusty bread too crusty for my taste. I use the lightest crust setting on the machine. I would like to find a machine that does a very light soft crust. The older West Bend that my friend had. It has a very soft crust. Unfortunatly, they don't make it any more. Does anyone know of another bread machine in a moderate price range that makes a soft light crust?
