HISTORY CELEBRATES the battlefields whereon we meet our death, but scorns to speak of the plowed fields whereby we thrive. It knows the names of the king's bastards but cannot tell us the origin of wheat. This is the way of human folly." -- Jean-Henri Fabre

Someone on this forum gave a link to the website where I read this-- so true isn't it? http://cdl.library.cornell.edu/chla/index.html

So true Jason,

Somehow, the picture of a farmer charging across his field on a plow attacking weeds, doesn't stir the imagination to patriotic fervor. I guess that why you never saw Errol Flynn, Gregory Peck, John Wayne or Harrison Ford staring down the enemy with a hoe.
