Maybe Bush Did Win Florida (Political)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

A number of news organizations and individuals are reviewing the under-counted ballots in Florida - the ones which went through the counting machines and didn't register a vote for President.

The first news organization to report was The Palm Beach Times, who reviewed the under-count in Dade County (the once which stopped their recount). They used the criteria even a hint of someone thinking of voting, such as a slight impression on a chad, would be counted as a vote for that candidate. After going through some 10,000 punch-card ballots, their count showed Bush actually gained six votes over Gore. This county is where, somehow, the Democrats though they would pick up an addition 600 votes, enough to overcome Bush's slim lead in Florida.

To quote the local newspaper, "Because of varying judgements by reviewers on how each ballot is marked and the inevitable human error that occurs when thousands of ballots are examined by hand, results of the reviews by newspapers are almost certain to differ."

JLS:

I doubt Mr. Jackson acknowledging he is the father of a young child from other than his wife is going to set him back much. Mr. Jackson reminds me somewhat of my brother. When younger he would go into a bar, get a fight started and then either stand in a corner with his hands raised or leave.

Ken,

I was GOING to say that the country really has to get into the 21st century and get with electronic voting. But that takes electricity, doesn't it? So for the sake of California, we should got back to paper ballots and #2 pencils. Either that, or you have to bring your own "D" cell batteries to the voting booth.

Some people I have talked to recently will only accept Josiah Bartlett as the President for the next few years, so maybe Martin Sheen has some job security for a while! :-)

I have to believe Bush did win the after the count, count, because one of the shows covering it all said it will be interesting to know the outcome of the ongoing, after the fact count, (Wow, does that make since) but we have heard nothing about it at the national level. I am positive if algore had of won it would be front page news now and in the next presidential election.

I honestly truly believe we will NEVER know the TRUE winner of the presidential election here in Florida. What with the "missing ballots", constant "handling" of "chad ballots", NEVER COMPLETING a single re-count, or completely having a ONE time count (see missing ballots), I don't believe ALL of the People of Florida's votes were ever counted.

Are they even done counting yet? (I haven't been paying attention.) After all, the new rodeo is in town!(smirk...)
