Dear Jeremy,

Income varies according to level of qualification and area of specialisation. Currently Massage Therapists employed by other specialists can earn between $12 and $30 per hour. Self-employed therapists can earn between $25 and $70 per hour.

Massage Therapy has been a career change for me, and I can say it has been one of the best decisions of my life!

If you have the passion for it then I suggest you go for it..........All the best!

Hi Jeremy,

Matt is correct - the rates of pay vary enormously. It is very important to get the best possible training so spend some time in choosing your course (you will find lots of suggestions in our web site)and spend lots of time promoting yourself when you finish.

Dear Jeremy,

I'd hate to say it, but if money is the only objective in "changing industries", then you should not enter the massage industry at all. You need a lot of dedication and a will to help others, then sooner or later, the money will follow but should not be the only reason to change. In my experience, knowing people in the industry and reading, most people that do enter, for only financial gains, generally get burned out and terminate their efforts swiftly. Good luck though!
