DV Editing question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A One Forum : One Thread

Tom I need some advice to enable me to link my camcorder (Panasonic NS33 - no DV input) to my PC (NEC PIII 1Ghz - no firewire but TV output socket). I have been advised that I should buy a kit which includes firewire card, cable and DV editing software but the cost (£200) is more than I wanted to pay. Can you help ...... what components to I need and will the Windows ME OS enable me to get started with the DV editing without the need to purchase expensive software? I look forward to your advice. Thanks. Alan Smith

Hi Alan, as far as I am aware Windows ME comes with it's own video editing software, so in theory all you need is a firewire card, which doesn't need to cost the earth, I'm sure we could probably get you one for about £100. I would recommend you have a look at the software that comes with ME and see if it will meet your requirements, if so simply adding a means of transfering the video to your pc i.e. a firewire card should suffice, hope this helps........Keep in touch...Digital Dave.
