Frozen Peppers (into Jelly)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have several gallon bags of frozen datil and habanaro peppers and would love to make datil pepper jelly. Has anyone made jelly with frozen peppers? Should I let them defrost? Thanks for the help.

Response to Frozen Peppers

I haven't made jelly from frozen peppers, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. It works for frozen berries. If there's any liquid in you recipe you might cut back a bit or boil a little longer. I put a recipe for hot pepper jelly on here a couple of places. It's really good.

Response to Frozen Peppers

Thaw them and then use them as if they were fresh. Alternatively, "reconstitute" them in hot water, but save the water for the rest of the recipe. Fear not - it will work. GL!
