I don't usually post political threads, but I can't keep this one to myself. I do this at the risk of being banned from the forum.

Dear Mr President:

I recently saw a bumper sticker that said, "Thank me, I voted for Clinton-Gore." So, I sat down and reflected on that and I am sending my "Thank you" for what you have done, specifically:

1. Thank you for introducing us to Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Dolly Kyle Browning, Kathleen Willey, and Juanita Broaddrick. Did I leave anyone out? (no, just read this one!)

2. Thank you for teaching my 8 year old about oral sex. I had really planned to wait until they were about 10 or so to discuss it with them, but now they know more about it than I did as a senior in college.

3. Thank you for showing us that sexual harassment in the work place (especially the White House) and on the job is OK, and all you have to know is what the meaning of "IS" is. It really is great to know that certain sexual acts are not sex and one person may have sex while the other one involved does NOT have sex.

4. Thank you for reintroducing the concept of impeachment to a new generation and demonstrating that the ridiculous plot of the movie "Wag The Dog" could be plausible after all.

5. Thanks for making Jimmy Carter look competent, Gerald Ford look graceful, Richard Nixon look honest, Lyndon Johnson look truthful, and John Kennedy look moral.

6. Thank you for the 72 House and Senate witnesses who have pled the 5th Amendment and 17 witnesses who have fled the country to avoid testifying about Democrat campaign fund raising.

7. Thank you for the 19 charges, 8 convictions, and 4 imprisonment's from the Whitewater "mess" and the 55 criminal charges and 32 criminal convictions (so far) in the other "Clinton" scandals.

8. Thanks also for reducing our military by half, "gutting" much of our foreign policy, and flying all over the world on "vacations" carefully disguised as necessary trips. Please give my regards to Hillary, when/if you see her. Tell her I'm working on a "Thank You" letter for her.

9. Thank you, also, for "finding" millions of dollars of excess tax money. I really didn't need it in the first place and I can't think of a more well-deserving group of recipients for my hard-earned dollars than jet fuel for all of your globe-trotting. I understand you, the family, and your cronies have logged in more time aboard Air Force One than any other administration.

God bless America and THANK YOU for spending my taxes so wisely and frugally.

Ummm, I was out of town last weekend, but I think George W. Bush became the new U.S. President that Saturday. But I think I understand your point. I guess we all still want to remember former-President Bill Clinton, one way or another.

I read today that the clinton gang left over $200,000 in vandalism to the White House. That is, so far, they're still counting and that dosen't count similar damage done to Air Force One.

What a bunch of slugs.

Sheepish, you bring up a good point! It's been a long time since I was in school, but don't you still address ex-presidents as Mr. President? I'm not trying to be smart, but it would seem a little belittling to call them Mr. Ex-President. Who knows what Emily Post would do?

Joe: It's true that what the outgoing staff did to the White House was despicable, but not as despicable as the undermining of the spirit of democracy done by the willful undercounting of votes in Florida...which undermines the U.S.'s position as an overseer of elections in emerging democracies.

Would someone post a URL of a news article detailing the "vandalism" perpetrated by the outgoing Democrats? I'd like to read it for myself. The only thing I heard was that there were "pranks" played by the outgoers on the incomers, such as removing all the W keys from the keyboards (which were discovered hidden in various places). The report I heard also said that this happens at every change in the administration, no matter which party is leaving and which coming in. I do know that huge teams of workers descend on the White House to repaint the rooms, hang new drapes, etc., with every Administration change and they do it all in a very few hours. That can't be cheap! And yes, the taxpayers foot the bill.

Jack has the form of address correct, I believe. As far as I know, all former Presidents are still called "Mr. President". This could become confusing, with a Bush in the office and another formerly in the office still living!

I, personally, would prefer not to hear any more about Mr. Clinton. I have no desire to think about him any more than is absolutely necessary. And I would like never to see printed again the implication that Mr. Gore claimed to have invented the Internet -- he did not. He claimed (entirely correctly) that he was instrumental in introducing the legislation that made creation of the Internet possible. That doesn't make a good joke, of course. And FWIW, I never voted for either Mr. Clinton or Mr. Gore.

Hang in there folks, George may prove not to be the hero you all think he is going to be, remember what a lier Daddy was when it came to the Iran/Contra thing. Clinton did a lot for this country, give him a break, he is gone. And keep in mind that Geo. is the president but Dick Chaney is going to run things.

Joy is correct. The "vandalism" that occurred was actually the practical jokes that are left behind at the end of any administration. The millions of dollars that were spent to "repair" the White House were to remove and replace the carpeting in the Oval Office, etc. Putting the individual touches that Laura and W. want in their home. I only wish my wife and I had that kind of budget to redo our house. Hey, any other gullible tax-payers out there.

As for Bubba, what's past is past and if you look at his record, he was really no different than most presidents. He, as President, made some true contributions and made some bad mistakes. The 40-some odd that preceded him also did the same. As an individual, he did the same. For all you bible-thumpers, isn't there a line about he that is without sin...... Bill is just a man, better than some, worse than others. I truly feel that he felt he was doing the best job he could, however, his behavior left much to be desired.

It's a new administration, of sorts. Let's just hope for the best and give, whomever is sitting in the Oval Office, our support.

Thank you Skip, and whoever that "anonymous" person was that sent me a private email with a suggestion of where to look for more info -- sorry, I didn't recognize your email addy, so I don't know who you are.

I read the one at Skip's site, and then did some more cruising around, reading various reports and opinion pieces. The outgoing people say the "vandalism" is exaggerated (though it apparently was more than the W keys), and also is nothing compared to the vandalism they experienced when they came in (when Bush Sr. left office). The incoming folks (some of them -- Bush fortunately is trying to ignore the whole thing, apparently as too tacky and inane for him to even worry about -- which I applaud) say that the vandalism is just scandalous, and that the outgoers are lying about how bad it was when they came in.

So. I think both sides are exaggerating what they suffered. And I think the whole thing is extremely stupid and immature. And I'm sorry I wasted my time reading about any of it.
