Topic Description: Records Management is a constantly changing discipline. The professionals who make their career in records management find themselves moving from one project to another. In such a project-driven working environment, whether we are in charge of all of the projects to which we are assigned or not, we need to manage our own schedules and resources. And it would be helpful to be informed about the schedules of others on whom we rely and to be up to date on the project as a whole. The presentation will include the speaker’s proven approach to project management, an approach that has evolved over a 25 year career in management consulting, as well as sample formats and project management tools. This session will help you learn about: The information building blocks of project management – tasks, timing and responsibilities. Defining, promoting and tracking performance through clear definition of deliverables and effective communications. How to use project management as an effective tools in your job and your career. Speaker Information: GEORGE CUNNINGHAM is the principal consultant of George Cunningham & Associates, a firm consulting to clients in records management and associated disciplines. His career designing and implementing records management programs as a management consultant spans over 20 years. Mr. Cunningham also serves as an expert witness on matters relating to records and document management. From 1989 through 1993, Mr. Cunningham worked in Price Waterhouse’s Management Consulting Services Group as their lead records management expert. In the late 1980’s, he served as Internal Consultant and Director of Records Services for the law firm of Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson where he was responsible for the design and implementation of an award-winning records management program and the restructuring of administrative operations in the firm’s Los Angeles office. In the early 1980’s, as a Partner in IOS Associates and President of Active Records Control, he designed and installed computerized and manual records management systems for clients in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Cunningham also has managed relocation projects and the design and installation of other administrative and support operations systems for a wide range of clients. During his career, Mr. Cunningham has served on the boards of directors of both technology and service organizations. Mr. Cunningham holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He is a published author and has lectured in the United States and abroad to university audiences, professional groups and bar associations. He is a frequent speaker for ARMA at chapter meetings and regional seminars as well as the annual conference, and has contributed to ARMA committees and Industry Specialty Groups. Mr. Cunningham is also a member of AIIM, and an associate member of the American and DC Bar Associations.
