VCD File Conversion......HELP DESPERATLEY NEEDED!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

My problem is this....I just traded for some VCD's and unfortunately they won't play on my DVD player. Two of them will perfectly but for some reason the others were not copied correctly and I have to use my PC to view them. What can I do to "recreate" them so I can get them to work on my stand alone DVD player? I could convert the .dat/.bin files to mpeg 1 and do it all over again. What do you all think? Would I have quality loss since it's a conversion and not a compression? Any help you all can give me on this would be greatly appreciated!

Sadly this also has been my only recourse.

dat2mpg, re-encode using TMPGEnc, re-burn.

Quality loss? A little may be, but the alternative is NO PLAY.
