Week One

greenspun.com : LUSENET : FT Pop Game One : One Thread

Two aims this week:

i) Hype bands and bring to our attention newsworthy items with them in.

ii) Suggest some other bands which we should draft in for the first week's charts. These might well be some of yours too.

Remember, use your Manager Name for your 'full name' and popsvengali@hotmail.com for your 'e-mail' address when prompted.

Cheers!

Oh have we started then?

Have the rock acts really died? Does no one listen to a good guitar band anymore? Is Coldplay REALLY that bad? I have my doubts...

I've got Steve on the phone, and he's not happy. Dre should be chartin big time up there, and he aint. What the fuck is wrong with this picture? Even if we've all been makin a buck on every "Stan" sold out there, Dre wants his name next to Bob the fucking Builder, Limp Bizkit and Steps. Know what I'm sayin?

Dido [dye-do? dee-do?] has the number album, and thus deserves massive points, surely.

Dido (pronounced Dil-Do) is unlikely to get anything but negative points round here - album charts are worth nought in my eyes. Lilly livered Sount London no mark Sade wannabee.

Just call me bad cop.

I think Dido's in with a shout. Single out next week remember - another turkey for Pete to shoot in pop-eye I believe.

Bonus points to any manager who can come up with a good joke about the Mya single for tonight's pop-eye. Quick now!

Oh, there is probably a place for Dido - its just that I'm damned if any of our managers have her on their team that she will accrue much. Outside the usual rules.

I mean, how big is she on the pop-star behaviour at the moment.

Gee if Dido gets points I might as well just manage Faithless too!! She had a page about her in Smash Hits, where she said Eimenem is a lovely bloke, and she was on an Eimennemenemenen record and did you know that he didn't even kill her like he says he'll do to all women heehee BUY MY RECORD TEENIES! I've heard some of it too. It aint as good as Army of Two by the Dum Dums. Naming yourself after 50s sweeties, cool, naming yourself after ... well feck knows to be honest, a load of old bobbins.

As far as Mya's "Case Of The Ex" is concerned, I didn't realize that "Ex" was pronounced "Mewling Copycat".

Hands up everyone who thinks "Ms. Jackson" should be the #1 single on the US charts instead of "It Wasn't Me" (a fine song in its own right, but not nearly as worthy as Outkast).
