How do we know we ever really tried to get Ostenstadt on loan, or anyone else come to that? Press b/s perhaps?

I think we did make a genuine attempt to get him on loan, but I think he wanted a permanant move to up sticks and go somewhere else not a loan deal which is what we were offering.

Going to City from Blackburn means he doesn't even have to move house, let alone owt else.

As I said, I would have had him on a stop gap short term loan basis but no more than that.
