I don't deserve some of you.............

...........after reading the RIP thread......cheers Douggie :-)

"We" had a bit of a nice day on a Chelsea site today and usually most of those lads go tits as soon as I show up with , "mornin' Chelsea", and then THE line...whatever it is that day :-)....anyway we got on to Munich of course and then came the "idiot" but all the Chelsea dived in there and gave the creep the slap he deserved so I didn't have to bother. I asked them a question that had been bugging me for a long time...basically I wanted to know why Matthew Harding was held in what seems a very high esteem by Chelsea fans, and why they go so ape at anyone doing the "helicopter" thing. A death is a death and not to be used as a mocking-tool, and I don't want to make light of a "solitary" death, but it seems to me not to be on the same level of passion as 1958 etc etc etc (I was doing my best not to be contentious or to be sounding a complete and utter wanker). Some decent answers came back with many agreeing that they allowed themselved to get caught on the tide of emotion similar to that witnessed around the time of Diana's death. They have a stand named after him but I wonder if they will remember him in 40 / 50 years time........which brings me onto the last bit :-( :-(

Overheard in K- Stand on saturday......Son - "Dad, why are the United players wearing black arm-bands"

Dad - "dunno son...maybe someone died"

Now what was that Keano was saying?

Don't get me wrong LR, I still think you are all currently really horrid :)) But Munich's a separate issue entirely.

Just say for the sake of argument, all the brain washing has the desired effect and the whole world ends up as MU supporters.

I'd give it about a month and even you'd be bleating about the good old days, LR, when it was Fortress Newton Heath, stood alone facing everything the rest of the known world could throw at you, disliked, even loathed, by 99 percent of the rest of the world's population

I'm sure you'd far rather have it like it is now than to have it all sweetness and light, never a wrong word, in fact, more boring than a very boring thing - I mean, all you'd be left with would be giving the cat a hard time. You can't have a very good argument if everybody agrees with everything you say all of the time, can you ?

Drawing the line at well before real 'wish-you-were-dead' type loathing, though. :-))

What got me was that the entire league had a minutes silence for Harding. Sorry he died and that but surely it was a Chelsea thing alone. A few years back a minibus carrying some NUFC youth players overturned and a lad died. There was a VERY moving tribute at St. James' but I wouldn't have expected Stamford Bridge to have stood in silence.

Remember the Leeds fans chanting "One Don Revie" when asked to be silent in tribute of Matt Busby? Out of order but what's the point in asking Leeds fans to honour a ManU manager?

Yer right in a way PB....the "siege mentality" is ok..but at times it pisses me off. I much rather prefer the feeling of supporting MUFC like it was in the 70's and 80's......you could say that you were a Manchester United fan and not get sneered at....or slapped :-)

A couple of points Dread.....the Busby minute's silence was at OT....so it's not really possible to ask for respect from one set of supporters yet allowing the other set to do as they please. Just won't work. You could also ask "what the feck has Don Revie got to do with a minute's silence for Sir Matt Busby"?

My second point is this....Sir Matt Busby wasn't just a Man Utd manager. He was an ex player of several clubs...and manager...and a Knight of the Realm, but more importantly he was THE pioneer of English football in Europe. He ignored the FA and took Manchester United into Europe to compete with the best, opening up the avenue for other English clubs to take.

Sorry LR, no offence meant. I thought the game in question was at Elland Road. Still what can you expect from Leeds fans? I think the point they were making is that if we have to pay tribute to the man who made your lot great then you should have paid tribute to Revie when he died. The fact that Busby was a gent, respected throughout the game and Revie was a dishonest, lying, cheating disgrace obviously hadn't crossed their minds.

LR
I think in the case of most reasonable supporters, 'loathing' and 'hate' are just synonyms for 'jealous-as-fkcu' that you lot are doing it and the likes of us ain't.

If that isn't the case, I'll no doubt have the error of my ways explained in no uncertain terms, in next to nee time. :-))

Wasn't offended Dread. Cheers
