Is There a San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Historical Society?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

I own a small piece of San Francisco History. It's a maintenance truck used by the SFOBB sometime from the 40's or 50's onward. It's a '39 Ford, somehow acquired from the 115th Quartermaster Regiment, CA National Guard. Lang Transportation Corporation leased, rented, or sold it to the SFOBB. I'm going to visit the State Archives, however, can anyone tell me of a good place in S.F. to find out more about LANG or SFOBB. For example, a historical society? Thanks!! Don Kenyon

Hi Don,

My father was a mechanic for Lang Transportation in the 1930s. The company was based in Los Angeles but was active all over the state and into Arizona. I am also interested in Lang. The owner was Mike Lang. My dad had a small 1939(?) black Ford pickup in the 1950s. I wonder if your truck looks the same. I have many old pictures of their rigs from the 30s to the 40s.

Good Luck.
