Wood shredder

Does anyone know how to build a limb shredder homemade? Thought I had heard of one somewhere made from a lawn mower?...is that right? And if it is, how big a round can it shred? Anyone have any plans?

Also, if I have not replied to you in the last week or so, it's because my computer was having errors and I am not computer literate so much, so it took me longer to figure it out.

I think you could do it but look around first. I found two one for $75.00 and the other for $50.00. I now own the $50.00 dollar one

Cher.... I designed the lawnmower shredder you spoke of around 1972 and patented it. Never made any money though. It is basically the same as today's chipper/vacs. Cut a hole in the top deck of the mower, reinforce the opening with a steel gasket and mount a chute on it. Use a wooden pusher for shoving things on down into the blades. Put a crossbar on the pusher so it cannot contact the blade. It will shred limbs of up to about 1 1/2 inches. There is probably a better and easier way which would be to purchase a used shredder which uses a hammermill type of rotating swinging blades. It'd be safer for the novice craftsman...........unless of course you're experienced with metal working.
