The Australian's Dossier team

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Friends of the ABC : One Thread

A team of journalists at The Australian have been researching the ABC for the past few weeks and will this weekend (February 17) publish the first of a detailed series of pieces about what's really going on inside the ABC.

I would appreciate it if you would post this information on your website and distribute it to your mailing list.

Thank you.

While enjoying - if that is the right word - the Dossier series, I feel that it is lacking assessment of the strengths of the ABC. EG: What it has begun and continued to grow throughout the whole period of the cuts. Its incredible record of awards. Its professionalism. How it compares with the commercial media (2UE gets a slap on the wrist for cash-for-comment and send its 2nd hand manager to run RN.). And has everyone forgotten what Mansfield discovered, that the audiences for the ABC are passionate about it. How about exploding some of the myths about its inefficiency - look up www.friendsoftheabc.org for information from Darce Cassidy. And finally, the question of government interference in the appointment and continuing support by the board for Shier?
