Employment in Australia

Hi there,

I am a student of Massage therapy in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I was wondering if anyone here had any information on finding work in Australia. Upon graduation I will have a diploma in theraputic massage. Our course is based on Osteopathic assment and treatment protocols.

So if anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate feedback,

Thank-you,

Hi Elyse

Massage in Australia is not regulated so you can 'become' a massage therapist with very little training. The most intensive training is about two years full time in NSW and three years in Victoria. Jobs are hard to come by and you must prove your worth to build up a practice. After the Olympic Games even more people are aware of massage therapy so hopefully we will all get more work!

The really successful therapists are doing very well but a lot just do it part time and keep a full or part time job to get them through the quiet times.

I know that the Canadian courses are very intensive and I have met some very good Canadian therapists. Hope you do well!
