Canon 100-300 fd zoom infinity focus

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread

I recently purchased a Canon 100-300 fd zoom. The overall condition of the lens is 9++. The only problem is it won't focus at infinity. Is there an ajustment I can do myself without taking it to a camera repair shop?

Thanks, Jim

Jim,

Some of Canon's long lenses and zooms don't stop at infinity, they focus a bit past infinity. These lenses will have an L shaped infinity witness mark. This supposedly allows for expansion and contraction in differing temperature conditions. My 80 - 200 SSC lens operates in this fashion.

If your lens focuses short of infinity, it's time for a visit to the repairman.
