Benton/Carter- Old Vs. New (post "The Crossing")

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Whoa! Anyone else blown away (or at least amused) by the Benton/ William White storyline last night? At times I felt like we were seeing glimpses of what Benton must have been feeling when he was thinking about med school and that he was saying and doing all the things he wished someone had shown him then. I kept thinking of how annoyed Benton used to (still does) get when Carter used to get in the way and lurk behind the chaos of the trauma room. This was so different. Benton seemed so overly helpful to White that it seemed a little strange to me. I loved seeing that side of Benton for once instead of just seeing him as Dr. Stoic that he usually is.

Also glad to see a bit of the old Carter back when he met Jeannie, oh, oops, I meant Rena. I nearly fell over when I first saw her. My first thought was "When did Gloria Reuben come back and why didn't anyone tell me!" Looks like this could be entertaining to watch and I hope we get to laugh more next week. The only laugh I got this week was when I saw Romano in his "jammies". Funny!

I didn't notice who the writer(s) were this week. I'm tempted to go watch it again but I ran out of Kleenex after watching it last night. Anyone know?

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

The writer is Jack Orman.

Are we supposed to believe that Rena is 19?? She looks at least 35. Great casting there.

Well, I think that is the point about Rena...she looks older than she is. The actress playing her (Lourdes Benedicto) is 26.

Maybe Peter is trying to make up for the way he dealt w/ Gant. He seems to be taking the completely opposite approach w/ William. I thought it was great of him to give William that chance to really see the work they do at County, it could be a real advantage in the future (if William decides to pursue medicine after all he saw).

Peter was an amazing teacher to White...telling him to ask questions but he may not be able to answer them right away, telling him people may push him out of the way, etc. He's learned a lot, I think that was better teaching than even Mark. I still think Carter's his favorite student though :) Maybe they'll still yet have a moment.

I was looking at screen caps and thinking - "HUH? maybe Mal got them mixed up... no, no she didn't. Must be a patient..." thanks for clearing that up!
