Country grub and other stuff. [WARNING!!!! Christian Material included]

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Freed boloney, fried taters, white hog gravy and BLACK coffee. If'n that ain't nuff how bout throw'n in some biskits and homemade surip.

For dinner-[noon time- for all you city folks]:-- fried side of hog, mashed taters, greens long with some fried onions, green beans, fried corn and bunches of iced t. Homemade light bread biskits to sop up all the grease and help clean the goozle on the way down.

Supper: Fried chik'n, mashed taters, gravy'n homemade biskets, grape jelly, more iced t and CHOC CAKE!

Now, I suppose somebody read'n this will tell me how it's wrong or bad for an old body to eat such stuff and clog the "oil lines". Yep, you're right! But, if'n this stuff is home growed without all the chemicals in feed, etc.-it ain't nearly as hard on a bod as store bought, floor sweep'n that are pre-packed, pre-digested-and shot full of embalmin fluid just to keep it look'n and tast'n fresh. Those poor souls don't have an idey what "fresh" is. Ya'll take a day of rest today. Even Almighty God rested on the 7th day! I'm gonna rest and delight myself in Him. Luke 6:31

Hoot are you sure you weren't raised up down south? Other than the fried baloney that's what I grew up eatin! I half jokingly told hubby when we got married....if you can't fry it or put gravy on it I can't cook it. Did you know some folks make gravy from (gasp)a packaged mix!!!! At least they call it gravy..looks like flour and water to me :o). Just a few things I'd like to add to your list. Fresh corn on the cob drippin with butter, watermelon eaten out on the breezeway(spittin seeds at your brother), fish frys on Sunday where all the cousins come over, blackberry cobbler, and granny's raisin pie(my little bro called it $300 pie...offered her that much to make it for him one time). It might clog up the 'oil lines' but what a way to go!

I had an idea when I saw this posting.....instead of saying WARNING: christian material enclosed...how about HALLALUJAH: christian material enclosed :o)). Happy Lords day to you too!

See, you made me look. I had to find out if Luke 6:31 contained something 'FRIED'... Oh well, Happy Sonday.

Hoot don't forget baked ham, spoonbread, chattanoga fudge cake, and iced tea. This is a real Sunday dinner. Martha

Don't know who I'm madder at, you for getting me drooling or Lynn for putting us on a diet. She let me have some bacon yesterday, one little slice, and I "dipped" it like snuff all morning long (a steady pinch between my cheek and gum):>)

My, now I'm going to have to cook up something delici.... I mean, unhealthy. ; - )

According to my wife, there are four food groups: Garlic, Butter, Chocolate, and everything else.

I like eggs n fried wheat puffs for breakfast. Now wheat puffs (wifey calls them styrofoam) might sound healthy, but when you put a couple tablespoons o butter in the pan, it's more like popcorn dripping with butter. But what she can't stand is when I fry up the bacon, then leave the fat in the pan and scramble some egss in it. Grease City.

Chow.

hoot, that is down home cookin any way you say it. I don't like prepared foods either. To me they taste like the box they came in. We had homemade biscuits, sausage gravy and fried taters for breakfast. Gonna have leftover biscuits, mashed taters and gravy along with fried chicken for supper.

Keep right on preachin and I'll keep right on reading it.

Bob--I didn't know there was any other way to fry eggs except in bacon (or sausage) grease.

Granny, I agree with you about the boxes. FYI they did a lab. study using 12 rats. The first six were fed corn flakes the others were fed the box. The ones fed the cereal died. The others survived. The box had more fiber.LOL
