GE: Computer crash cancels 100 ASA flights

A computer crash resulted in at least 100 flight cancellations Monday for passengers on Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Delta Air Lines' commuter feeder carrier.

ASA executive Sam Watts said the airline struggled all day to make other arrangements for passengers caught up in the computer malfunction.

ASA has 650 departures daily, and 254 of them originate at Hartsfield International Airport. ASA hoped to have resumed normal operations today.

The airline's computer that authorizes flights failed for more than 10 hours and didn't become operational until 3 p.m. Monday, Watts said.

ASA issued an apology to its customers and either booked them on later ASA flights or with other airlines, Watts said.
